Cisco announced that FlipShare service is shutting down 12/31/13. Until then you can only keep Flip videos for 30 days. Fortunately mailVU is an alternative service to FlipShare, and videos do not expire in mailVU video accounts! Our account plans store and send video via email for as long as you are a subscriber. Simply upload your Flip videos into a mailVU account and be assured that you will be able to continue to save and send your video mail.
The Flip camcorder was one of the most popular video recorders on the market, and FlipShare was a convenient $30/year service for sharing those videos (this is the same price as mailVU’s Basic Plan). Then smartphones on 3G and 4G networks came along.
mailVU’s iOS video sharing app and Android video sharing app are free to use, and connect to a private online video account for storage. If you use one of our Business Plans with branding, the branding will be applied to your mobile video mail as well. With mailVU you can also record and send video via email from your computer.
mailVU includes special video email features that FlipShare doesn’t:

We were speaking with one of our car dealership clients who said he switched from FlipShare to mailVU’s iOS app in order to take walk-around-videos of arriving vehicles. His sales team uses an iPod Touch with the mailVU app to video a vehicle and email it directly to prospects with the custom branded template of their Business Pro account. With mailVU they continue to have fast and easy video recording and sharing, but now send video via email with custom branding and view notification. The Flip was certainly one of the best consumer devices last decade, and it opened the door to easy video recording and sharing for everyone. It is sad to see it go.
